LE MONDE DE BERNAR VENET, VENET IN CONTEXT

To discover Bernar Venet’s personal collection is to enter a world where the basic givens of his own work come together: the transcribing of concept and idea in the materiality of the work of art. This collection is a stunning testimony to a very special taste for sobriety of expression, for “an art of content rather than of surface”, as Venet likes to put it. It includes works by over fifty artists, all of them big names from the second half of the 20th century: the leading representatives of New Realism, Minimalism, and Conceptualism with whom the artist has been continuously exchanging in comings and goings between Nice and New York, Europe and the United States.
